HONOLULU – Hawai‘i design firm G70 hires Kialoa Mossman, as a Planner. In his new role, he will oversee the interpretation and compliance of local and federal regulatory requirements for projects, help with project schedules, and assist in team and client meetings.
Mossman holds a master’s degree in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He received his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, and his Planning Certificate from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. Immersing himself in indigenous history and cultural studies for over a decade – Mossman recognizes the importance of our urban spaces, and believes that the built environment must work in tandem with the natural environment, specifically the indigenous and endemic species of our Hawai‘i landscapes.
His portfolio focuses on indigenous history and cultural studies, higher education, community facilitation, and research. Most recently, Mossman worked as a GIS Analyst and Researcher with the Edith Kanakaʻole Foundation, a Hawaiian Cultural-based non-profit that focuses on elevating Hawaiian intelligence through cultural education founded on the teachings and traditions of Edith and Luka Kanakaʻole.
Since 2019, Mossman has served on the Kaulunani Advisory Council which acts in an advisory capacity to Kaulunani Urban & Community Forestry Program and the State Forester Program, providing recommendations, direction, and strategic guidance for an array of community forestry initiatives.
