Kamakana Villages

Kona, Hawai‘i

The project represents the first major transit-oriented development (TOD) under the KMA Development Plan. Forest City was selected by the State of Hawai'i Housing Finance & Development Corporation (HHFDC), to develop approximately 2,300 homes on 272 acres for Kamakana Villages, Keahuolu, North Kona. As a 201(H) project, half of the homes will be sold or rented as "affordable." The balance of the homes will be sold or rented at market value. In collaboration with Calthorpe Associates, G70 completed a Master Plan, Environmental Report, Sustainability Plan, and Entitlements. The plan provides for 190,000 sf of commercial community facilities, two elementary school sites, a community/civic center, and various parks and open spaces.
