The ‘Ūmalu Restaurant is located on the pool level of the Maui Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kā‘anapali, Maui and features panoramic ocean views. ‘Ūmalu is a Hawaiian word which means the "Brow of a Cliff". The architectural design took its inspiration from historic Hawaiian eroded dunes and indigenous petrels which were originally at the site centuries ago. The sculptural roof shape at the bar evokes the original rock formations and the ceiling appears to be like exploded petroglyph forms. All wood finishes are sun bleached wood much like the sun washed roots of trees found in this area of Maui. The project is a collaboration between G70 International (Architect) and Island Design Center (Interior Design) of Maui.
