Kāne‘ohe, O‘ahu

G70 partnered with healthcare architect KMD under the design build team led by Hensel Phelps in the design and construction of a secure, state-of-the-art Forensic Adult Mental Health Facility to accommodate 144-beds, with approximately 180,000 SF of floor area, with net programmed area of 91,000 SF, plus additional related site improvements. Accelerated design build schedule also incorporated sustainable strategies to design elements for LEEDv4 Silver Certification. Design Delivery of the complex scope of work with multiple design partners was done with Revit 360 and Bluebeam Studio where all consultants could work on 3 dimensional model for better communication within the team and Client reviews. Project successes include:
• Designed a Hawaiian Sense of Place integrated into the Therapeutic Environment.
• Project Design and construction of the new facility within 3 years with limited area and access to the site.
• Challenges with integration of the new facility’s communication & security electronics with the existing campus system.
• Providing required parking on a constrained site to accommodate staff.
• Construction of new facility without disrupting the operations of the existing hospital.
