Norman Hong has been involved in projects throughout Hawaii and overseas, including Southeast Asia and China. His work exemplifies a lifelong commitment to both quality and positively impacting lives through architecture and community service. Hong joined the firm in 1971 becoming a principal in 1977.
Hong’s experience spans over four decades with projects ranging from institutional facilities to resorts and timeshares. His projects include the Hilton Grand Waikikian, Marriott Maui Ocean Club, Kauna‘oa Country Club, The Pointe Club at Hawaii Loa Ridge and University of Hawai‘i Federal Credit Union, all of which have been recognized for design excellence by the American Resort Development Association, Building Industry Association, and American Institute of Architects.
Dedicated to community service, he has been active in many public and non-profit organizations including the Hawai‘i’s State Board of Professional Architects, the AIA Hawaii Society (as President in 1988), the Board of Elders for Kaimukï Christian Church, the C&C of Honolulu’s Special Design Districts Advisory Board, and UH Federal Credit Union Financial Services.
Hong has published award-winning works in various business and architectural publications, most recently, The Drawings of Hida and Yuen featuring a collection of drawings by G70 Architects Hitoshi Hida and Steve Yuen.
