New Hope Central Oahu plans to build a new church in Mililani on the 1.5 acres of land it purchased earlier this year from Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii Inc., according to public documents.
Mike Palompo, the church’s pastor, presented plans at June’s Mililani Mauka/Launani Valley Neighborhood Board meeting. The new church will be built on residential-zone land at 95-999 Pikokea St. near Mililani Middle School and will have a height limit of 25 feet.
Land zoned for residential can be utilized as church sites.
Honolulu’s Group 70 International also is part of the project, which is awaiting a conditional use permit.
New Hope Central Oahu already has campuses at the Mililani Tech Park, Haleiwa Elementary School on the North Shore and Iliahi Elementary School in Wahiawa.
Palompo said he expects about 150 parishioners to attend services at the new church.
New Hope Central Oahu, which purchased the land in April, has three years to begin construction on the project, he said. The church was founded in Wahiawa in 1999.
