Hokulani, “Heavenly Star” represents a significant reinvestment in Waikīkī by Hilton Grand Vacation Club. This property a casualty of the economic downturn sat vacant and unimproved. With Hilton Grand Vacation Club’s purchase of the property it sought to reposition and invigorate this pivotal corner on the Kalakaua Avenue Streetscape. The project’s design incorporates a modern Hawaiian design vocabulary through contextual representation of the islands natural environment. Design motifs created find their meaning though kai “Water”, lani “sky” and ahi “fire”. This is found embedded within the design and especially represented at the projects entry where kai, lani and ahi all come together to welcome guests to this special place.
