PBS Hawaii opened its new $30 million building in Honolulu to the public on Wednesday, a facility that includes three media studios, the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Learning Zone and other work spaces, the state’s sole member of the Public Broadcasting Service said.
The statewide TV station also held a blessing ceremony and thanked its donors at the building’s site at 315 San Island Access Road fronting Nimitz Highway.
Event attendees included representatives of three multimillion-dollar funders of the building — the state, The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation and the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.
PBS Hawaii is offering tours of the building to all donors, totaling more than 2,000 people and organizations.
The two-story, 32,000-square-foot building was designed by architect Sheryl Seaman of Honolulu’s G70. The general contractor was Honolulu-based Allied Builders System
