Sheryl Seaman was vice chair and principal-in-charge of the interior design division at G70. She has more than five decades of experience in architecture and interior design for both new construction and renovations with award-winning projects throughout Hawai’i and the Pacific Rim. Seaman began the G70 interiors department because most people spend 92% of their waking hours indoors therefore interior design is key to her commitment to improving people’s well-being at home, at work, or at play.

Seaman joined G70 in 1978. When she was named president and chief operating officer in 1991, which made G70 the largest architectural firm to be directed by a woman, according to the American Institute of Architects’ national headquarters.

Seaman believes that the thoughtful and meaningful coordination of architecture and interior design is the key to successful projects. Her work has garnered industry awards from respected organizations including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Interior Design Association (IIDA), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and Hawaii Tourism Authority. Highlight projects include PBS Hawaii’s New Home, Kea Lani Spa, the Mahana Bay Tahiti Resort, the Halekulani Hotel’s Vera Wang and Royal Suites, and soon to be completed 80,000 sf of medical care space for Healthcare Realty Trust.

Dedicated to the local community, Seaman has served as a board member of the American Red Cross since 1994. She also was Chair of the Building Committee for the Hawaii Theater and Commissioner of Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.

Seaman earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, is a licensed architect in the State of Hawaii and a Certified Interior Designer by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification. She is currently a member of the Commercial Interior Design Association (IIDA) and a former director of the ASID, a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Hawaii Chapter. Seaman is also a member of the American Institute of Architects where she held a variety of board positions, including President in 1994.

Born in Berkley, California, the long-time Kailua resident enjoys collecting contemporary Chinese art, traveling all corners of the world, creating jewelry as an amateur silversmith and designing custom furniture pieces and architectural elements.
